Representing Londoners in the Parliament

October 22, 2014

Parliamentary intergroups provide a vital, informal forum to advance issues that make a real difference to the lives of Londoners.

In addition to my membership of the intergroup for Climate Change and Biodiversity, Youth Unemployment and LGBTI, I have decided to represent Londoners on committees that concern two important facets of the London economy: tourism and the corporate world.

In 2013, a record number of 16.8 million visitors spent an estimated £11.2bn in our capital – vital in supporting jobs and growth across the service industries that support tourism.

However, with many people still out of work, particularly young people, more must be done to ensure business invests responsibly, sustainably and in a way that offers decent long-term job opportunities to Londoners.
